We are now sitting in a Starbucks in Chicago, killing time before our 9:30 PM flight to Sao Paolo. We picked up our visas from the Brazilian Consulate this morning, and breathed a heavy sigh of relief. It has been a stressful couple of days, not knowing 100% that everything was going to come together.
Michelle, from Tri The World, has been excellent, adjusting our travel arrangements and communicating with the Race Directors for the Brazil 70.3. They have been notified of our situation and have promised to keep everything open until we get there. If all goes smoothly, we will be arriving at our final destination, Penha, at 1:30PM tomorrow, just over 15 hours before race start. We will have to get ourselves to the race site, register, assemble our bikes and take care of all the mechanical issues that we encountered in Singapore. Needless to say, we'll have our work cut out for us. In a way, it will be nice to get the race done with right away so that we can enjoy a few days of relaxing on the beaches of southern Brazil.
Many thanks to Michelle, who truly made us her #1 priority these past few days. We don't know what we would have done without her.
Still, we're not in Brazil yet, so we'll continue to keep our fingers crossed.....
cheers,
Heather & Brian
